Can't believe this is happening... Kazue suddenly passed away. 

I was holding her when she took her last breath - like if she had waited for me...

 

I'm so upset.. Heartbroken really.

 

We've had 3 wonderful years together.

She was one of my most special rats ever, for sure.

I'm very thankful her offspring will continue to be bred by many breeders.

Rajani is not the prettiest rat of all,  but I do think she was the best female to keep, because she's less diluted (I'd prefered non-marked, but there wasn't any XD)

And I have to admit: at only 4 months old, she's showing gorgeous rex coat already.

 

Her sister Rags moved to Poland, and is showing very promissing type - I've arranged to get a baby when she will be bred.

Recently I've had Nanuq put to sleep, my beautiful russian girl. She had a heart condition, was treated for about 8-9 months and doing ok, untill the beginning of August - after weeks of exceptional high temperatures (35-40 degrees outside) her heart just couldn't take it, she was all swollen up with fluids - it was bad..... If I thought there was any chance of recovery, I would certainly have tried, but there wasn't. I know it's better for her this way, but it always hurts loosing them...

Hamka had a super nasty abscess at the vulva due to a bite wound (I thought), it looked very painful - but from handling alone (or an attempt) she gets completely stressed out, so I had to go to the vet to clean it under anesthesea .... But it was much more serious than we had foreseen... It was a tumor from the inside, bursting out at the urethra, infection, so much damage and tissue that could not possibly be repaired / removed - the vet gradually discovered while cleaning the abscess, what was really going on....

 

I still discussed the possibilities, maybe shorten the urethra, but the greatest risk she would no longer be able to urinate at some point... or the infection getting much worse, pain when urine enters the open wound, with all the consequences..... apart from the fact that treatment with antibiotics / flushing the wound etcetera would be impossible for her.

 

Sadly I had to let her go........................ goodbye baby.

Ham is living with me now.

His brother suddenly passed away, and the owner won't get new rats, so it's better for him to have company of his (spayed) sister Hebbes.
